Introduction

Gejoksan Mountain forms the boundary between Daedeok–gu and dong-gu of Daejeon city. It means 「legs of the hen」 because the mountain resembles a hen and the main ridge stretches out like chicken legs. The end of the right side of this mountain has broad trail routes stretching from Gayang Park to Jang-dong Forest and people can enjoy riding the bike or taking a walk along the trail. If you want to go to the Gejok Mountain Fortress quick, take the shortcut of roads leading to Jang-dong Forest or Sandi Village. This is a good place for a romantic dating. Since this route is made of red clay, you can walk barefoot. The step seen from the pavilion in front of the resting area leads you to Gejok Mountain Fortress and from here; the trail to the mountain is started. Because this is a not that steep, all the family members can enjoy hiking.

Every year, in this trail, cultural events such as a barefoot marathon, a walk contest, a mountain marathon, bike riding, a concert, and a sun-rising ceremony are held.
